If your thinking of joining a walking club then this coming Sunday, 3rd Dec, is the perfect opportunity for you. Sligo Mountaineering Club have their ‘Club Sunday’ outing on the first Sunday of the month, giving anyone the opportunity to join them on a guided walk that will be suitable for beginners. You’ll have the opportunity to meet club members, ask any questions you might have about walking in general or about the club, have a great day out and get a good feel as to whether you’d like to join and make this a regular Sunday activity. The meeting point is at the carpark of Tubs and Tiles Store on the N16, just off the N4/N15, at 10.30 am, your leaders/guides for the day will be Colm D’Arcy, who is club secretary, and Cecily Gilligan, they will guide you from Doon Lough just north of Lough Gill, head north to Leean Mountain and return you safely to the carpark at Tubs and Tiles no later than 4pm. So get your boots ready, pack the flask and some sandwiches, and enjoy the countryside.
