The Coolaney boardwalk refurbishment was very much a community project and was carried out by Sligo County Council and Coolaney Tidy Towns with funding from the Department of Rural & Community Development.

The Route
Starting in the centre of the village, at the junction between the Ballymote and Rockfield Roads, the walk follows the Owenbeg River around the rear of the village returning to the Car Park along Main St.  The walk includes a section of recently upgraded boardwalk and provides access to a beautiful wooded path along the river.  This short circular route forms one of the highlights along the Sligo Way and is a highly accessible snippet of this beautiful and challenging long distance Waymarked Way.
